My Secret Hideout
My secret hideout is a precisely-made platform perched in a pine. A passage of planed beams leads into a core room, cozy and quite dry. A wood-burning stove stands on a pallet across two branches, keeping the hideout warm. Hot air passes through unobtrusive ducts throughout the treehouse. Near there is an alcove where I keep scrap plastic. To the right is a chamber set aside for my writing; it is panelled in clean pale wood. A bare desk sits to the side. To one side is my library. Thick Iranian histories and occult spellbooks lie in stacks. A small plate of cheese rests on a sideboard, and worn chairs are scattered around. Standing on the balcony, I can see the peaks glittering in the morning sun. A glacier is visible, snaking between distant peaks.
